A night is worth $50 a person to the optimizer, and it reads the landing where you actually arrive: ninety minutes after the gate you are in the city at 11:46 with the day ahead of you, so this one counts $50, the whole night. One that lands before the day has started counts for less, and so does every night in transit after the first.

What does Stopover do?
Stopover is a free multi-city trip planner: give it your home airport, the cities you want to visit and a date window, and it prices every order the cities could go in and gives you the cheapest one, with a link to book each flight.
How much can the order of the cities change the price?
On the 72 multi-city routes we price in full, the typical gap between the cheapest and the most expensive order of the same cities is about $189 a person, and the largest is $900. Same cities, same trip; only the order changes.
Are these real prices I can actually book?
They are real fares that were on sale when we looked, and every one is labelled with where it came from and when. Fares move, so the button next to each leg opens the live search on Google Flights, Kiwi, Skyscanner or the airline, and you book there. A price tagged ✓ verified was fetched during your plan. One tagged cached fare is a real fare somebody saw recently that we have not re-checked, and it says how old it is.
Do you book anything, or add a markup?
No. Stopover never sells you a ticket and never touches your card for a flight. It is a search and planning tool: it works out the route and hands you a link. What you pay the airline is what the airline is charging.
How is this different from multi-city on Google Flights?
Google prices the order you type in. Stopover prices every order your cities could go in, on every day of your window, and picks the best one that still fits your nights per city, best meaning the fare and the hours together, so a routing that saves twenty dollars by costing you a day does not win. Then it looks for the things a single search cannot show you: a layover long enough to count as a city somewhere you wanted to go, two separate tickets that beat one through fare, a day either side that is cheaper, a city you could add for almost nothing on the way home.
What is the catch with a two-ticket combo?
Two separate tickets are not one contract. If the first flight is late, the second airline owes you nothing and you buy a new ticket. We only show a combo when it genuinely beats the through fare, we always show the connection buffer, and we mark each one low, medium or high risk. Kiwi-sold combos carry Kiwi's own guarantee and are labelled as such.
Is hidden-city ticketing legal? Should I do it?
It breaks the airline's conditions of carriage. Airlines can cancel the rest of your ticket, take your miles or close your account. We show these fares because people ask, we mark them against airline rules, they are never counted in any total, and they never appear in the recommended plan. Do the prices include bags?
The fare is the fare. Where a leg is on an airline that charges for a checked bag, the plan adds an estimated range next to it and in the total line, so a $60 low-cost hop does not quietly become $110. Seats and priority boarding are not included.
Do I need an account?
Not to see what it does. You can plan up to 3 trips a day without signing in, and you get nearly the whole thing: the order, the free-city layovers, the two-ticket combos and every other hack but the ticketing tricks, which need a live search. It is priced from our free sources and from fares already in the cache rather than a paid check of every leg. Sign in to have every leg checked, to keep the plan, and for 2 free trips of your own.
What counts as one trip?
One set of cities and dates. Once a trip exists you can re-plan it as often as you like at no cost: change the order, stretch a city, take a cheaper day, pick a different flight on any leg. Only starting a brand new trip uses one of your two free ones.
What do you store about me?
If you have an account: your email, the trips you ask for and the plans we generate. If you do not: the plan itself, attached to nobody, and a count of requests against your address so nobody can drain the search budget. Fares we look up are logged without you attached to them, which is what powers the price history. We do not sell data. Privacy policy.
